Social Media can be a place for communication, a place to keep up with your friends and your closest relatives. It’s a place for self-expression and self-awareness about what is going on in this fast-paced society, and for some it can be motivation. Anthony Bright is one of the many who use seek it.
Anthony Bright is a senior with one of the brightest smiles, but it holds a heart-aching backstory. Derived from his own words, the only real thing keeping him going is YouTube.
“My YouTube channel is great for whenever I need an audience to express myself, or just to entertain my friends,” Anthony said.
Anthony had a normal childhood, but it changed rapidly to a tragedy.
“The worst situation I’ve ever been through was my parents divorce. It was one of the hardest times of my life to watch my parents marriage go down in a courtroom,” Anthony said, sorely and almost unconsolably.
Instead of losing hope, feeling gloomy and depressed, Anthony didn’t dwell or allow himself to wallow in this aggrieved situation. He turned it around for his own advantage, and created a YoutTube channel for encouragement and inspiration.
“[My parent's divorce] taught me that there’s always a chance in life that something can happen. There was a chance that my parents would get a divorce. There’s a chance that I can get somewhere with my channel," Anthony said. "I don’t see YouTube as a job in my future, I just see it as a hobby, but if it blows up, that’s even better. If it doesn't though, it'll be like yearbook. I'll be able to look up “Brightwonder” and find my channel and remember the times I had recording the video."
Seeing that these tough moments seemed to make him stronger, yet the motivational source was always YouTube. He wants other to see what he sees - his visions and perspectives. He wants others to feel his strength, and to let others cope and forget their troubles with his humor and touching sensitivity.
“My main inspiration are people who upload content that try give others motivation. It's kind of corny, but without my experiences, I don’t think I would have touched my YouTube channel," Anthony said. "Motivation is what keeps us going as a society. Some people's motivation is their children, some is assisting their family. Mine happens to be my YouTube channel."
