After a historic season, the upcoming 2018-2019 football season will be something for the ages due to new names and big changes within the football program.
The school recently announced the addition of Anthony Tademy to the football program. He will serve as the head football coach and Athletic Coordinator and has experience at high schools and various schools at the collegiate level. He coached for schools such as Louisiana Tech, TCU, UL-Monroe, UL-Lafayette, Houston, and his recent school Henderson State in Arkansas.
“I am excited to be at Grand Prairie. We are a team here and I am ready to help all of our teams believe in their abilities and be successful,” Coach Tademy said.
Principal Beard also spoke with confidence in Tademy.
“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Tademy to Grand Prarie,” Principal Ronny Beard said. “He is a great addition to our school and we are lucky to have him coaching our football players.”
That isn’t the only change. A familiar face that’s been around forever is going to disappear. Defensive Coordinator Clint Bartel, will be departing from the team soon to be the new safety coach at Brewer High School in Fort Worth, with DeSoto High School’s former head coach and Athletic DirectorTodd Peterman.
“Things won’t be the same with the same with Bartel gone, but we are going to adapt and have the best year so that we can do well and compete in this district.” said junior safety, George Gipson.
