At five feet and five inches tall, varsity high jumper Charity Robertson shattered the high jump record at Irving Airline Relays.

“Breaking the record made me feel so much pride,” junior Charity Robertson said. “I think high jump often gets forgotten so it felt good to do so well.”

Robertson has been training hard every day since freshman year. Her coaches Coach Jones, Coach McDonald and Coach Bucalo pushed her and told her repeatedly that she would be able to clear 5’6.

“I had faith that I would be able to clear the previous record of 5’2, but I knew I would have to put in a lot of practice,” Robertson said. “My coaches have been really patient with me and constantly push me to do my best.”

Since the Irving Airline Relays, Robertson placed third in districts and has qualified for the area meet in Waco, Texas.

“I want to mention the massive amount of support my team has given me. I wouldn’t be where I am without them. "
