Students with college aspirations may finally see those dreams become a reality. The Dallas County Promise is a pledge in which you vouch to complete your studies at a specific school, stay focused, and be a role model for those entering. This pledge is the hope some students have been looking for as they plan for their future education.

“I want to go to college but thought it’s too expensive and seeing that my parents both have dead-end jobs and we live a mediocre life, I didn't really think I would have many opportunities for college,” Jesus said. “I’m glad I'll have the opportunity and be able to take advantage of it to its full extent.”

What makes the Dallas County Promise so amazing for the class of 2019 is the easy steps it takes to complete the promise. Step #1 is simply completing the pledge and applying to a Promise Partner college by Feb. 8, 2019. Next complete a free application for FAFSA by Mar. 8, 2019 and lastly, enroll at a Promise Partner college!

Misael Mundo, 1 of 2 students now enrolled in the Dallas County Promise, is grateful and completely taking advantage of this opportunity.

“I was influenced by a teacher who really just pushed me towards following what I wanted and where I wanted to be,” Misael said.

As a senior in high school, most of the time you’re expected to have an idea of what you’d like to be and know what steps to take so you’ll have a plan and reassurance for your future. The Dallas County Promise seems to be that reassurance and becomes a complete plan within itself for many students seeking a real opportunity for the real world.

“I want to work as an ARN with coma patients. I never really knew what I wanted to do, but seeing my uncle hospitalized before he passed away really influenced me. I always wanted to work in something where I could help others and hopefully alter their lives completely, and this really made me realize what I wanted to become,” Misael said.

Regardless of their plans, students alike see the impact the Promise can make.

“I tell people to enroll mainly for the purpose of getting free college and being able to save money for future expenses in life. I plan on taking complete advantage of the program and saving my cash,”Jesus said.
