Dress Code: Good or Bad?

Since the start of Grand Prairie High School, there has always been dress code dress around. Even if people dislike it or not we still have to obey the rule.

Dress code in Grand Prairie high is practically no skin showing. For example, ripped jeans are showing knees, spaghetti shirts show shoulders, shorts show legs and crop tops show too much stomach.

“I wish we had more choices on what to wear,” Arelis Checker said.

Mostly people think that the dress code rule is only for students, but it also involves the teachers and the rest of the staff in the school. Nobody gets treated differently and everybody gets the same consequences if you disobey it.

“I don’t usually wear something out of dress code, but if I am, an assistant principal (AP) usually calls me out,” Maricarmen Aguado said.

If someone is out of dress code, the first time they make you change into something else and make you call your parents. The second time, an AP takes you to the ISS room and that’s more serious. Most students try to obey, but others don’t really care.

“In my opinion, I rather have no dress code because that will give us more freedom on what to wear,” Lisa Rebollar said.

The main reason we wear specific clothing is because we don’t want to see any inappropriate skin showing. Dress code has pros and cons, but as a whole school we still have to follow it.

Here’s some advice: follow the rules and you will be good. At least we don’t have to wear uniforms….
