Do you love to dance? Then get ready to show a panel of judges your talent! Geepettes are hosting auditions for the 2018-2019 drill team beginning Monday, November 27 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Geepette Gym.
“Incoming freshman through ongoing seniors that have a strong passion for dance and outrageous pride for their Gopher community are encouraged to try out,” director Ms. Pinales said.
Those auditioning can expect to learn a new dance to preform in front of a panel of judges, which will prepare you for when you will face performances and lots of people will be watching you and the dance team.
“Tryouts come with a price. You have to have some type of experience and be somewhat flexible,” junior Keisha Torres Rosado said. “Ms. Pinales doesn’t care if your been with dancing for three years. You have to have what it takes to be on the dance team.”
Being a Geepette doesn’t just mean you can dance. They are looking for girls that show courtesy and that respect their teammates, which they call sisters. They want girls that are dedicated and passionate about dancing, will attend all practices and camp, and are able to maintain their grades at A’s and B’s.
“I was a Geepette and I was in it for all four years. I know the struggles the girls will have to go through, but I also know when I wanted to be in the team I gave it all I had,” Pinales said. “The girls I choose for my 2018-2019 team will have the same attitude.”
Before auditions, those trying out must attend a mandatory student and parent meeting on Thursday, November 9th at 6:00 p.m.
“I guarantee you won’t regret being part of the team,” Torres Rosado said. “It’s not always about dancing on a team. It’s about supporting each other being there each other and loving each other as sisters.”
