To provide students with a better learning experience, the technology team began giving out iPads on Monday, October 27.

Students in Grand Prairie ISD, including more than 2,600 students at Grand Prairie High School, will receive iPads for instructional purposes.

“We are excited about this new initiative,” Ms. Schooling said. “The iPads are easy and convenient for students and teachers to use in class. You can use learning apps and textbooks for instructional purposes and have everything in one place.”

The new media center near the cafeteria is where students went when they were called to receive their district-issued device. iPads came preloaded with educational apps and even games for students.

“Our hope is that students will learn to use the device as a tool,” Schooling said. “There are so many ways to integrate it into the classroom and use it for educational purposes that it will be a process for both students and teachers.”

However, with privileges comes responsibility.

“If you were to lose your iPad, you would have to pay full price to replace it unless you bought the insurance for $20,” Ms. Schooling said. “But if it were to get stolen, you would have to file a police report.”

Even though it is a lot of responsibility, students are excited to have iPads.

“There are a lot of cool things you can do with the iPads,” freshman Aria Hernandez said. “I like getting to use technology in class and having access to school assignments whenever I need to.”
