This school year has brought about new things at Grand Prairie High School, especially the new vending machines.

“Finally, we don’t have those old ugly machines anymore,” junior Maricarmen Aguado said.
The new vending machines were such a shook for all students once they entered the school. The old machines have been there for a while so that’s why kids were so surprised looking at them. Many were lined up to see the new snacks hoping they had changed as well.
“The first day that we had lunch I went straight to the vending machines to see what they had,” junior Arelis Chequer said.
What do they really have though? It’s pretty much just snacks that includes hot cheeto puffs, doritos and popcorn as well as granola bars, pop tarts, cookies and ice cream. Also there's beverages like water, lemonade, tea, and diet coke but unfortunately, the prices did increase.
“Once i was going to get an item the machine took out my money because it wasn’t enough to purchase it,” Chequer said
The cost can go up to $2.25 for one item. Some say it is unfair, but the school is getting more money. The good thing is that the new machines don’t eat all of your money like in the past, it returns it back.

“The cool thing about the new machines is they have somewhere where you can slide your credit/debit card,” Aguado said.
Teachers also have new vending machines in a separate part of the building. Their vending machines are stocked with way better items like sandwiches, candy bars, soda and coffee. The worst part for students is that they cannot use them and if you try, good luck because they have a camera right in front of the machine.
“I think it’s unfair that teachers get access to regular sodas instead of diet,” Chequer said.
It may not be right that the teachers got a better upgrade, but in the end, students accept and appreciate the new vending machines.
