Donald Trump: One Year Later

Since the United States of America was first founded, we have had many presidents. Some did exquisite and others were just plain bad. The 2016 was not ideal seeing that both of the candidates were horrible choices. However, it’s been one year since the worst of them, Donald Trump, got elected and not many people have changed their opinions.

“I don’t believe he is leading us in the right direction because to me, he’s racist and that doesn’t help the growing problem with race relations in the U.S,” junior Ciara Woodland said.

Trump has failed to condemn the Alt-Right. His response to the wretched event in Charlottesville was shameful. It’s understandable that there are many hard aspects of being President, but to condemn neo-Nazis is far from one of them.

“He was only elected because he has a good mouthpiece. He only says things that people would like to hear,” sophomore Marjon Moore commented.

It’s safe to say that Trump has made many obnoxious tweets. However, what he has failed to realize is that being President should be more about using your voice for good rather than tweeting smash mouth words to get into office.

“I didn’t think he had an actual chance at winning the presidency, but he somehow did,” ASL teacher Ms. Peoples stated. “There’s no telling if he could win another term in office.”

President Trump has a lack of political experience, but somehow swept to an improbable victory in the US presidential election. While his message resonated with a vast amount of Americans, it didn’t resonate with me. I can only hope this next year gets better because to me, I don’t believe that he is actually fit to be President.
