Fourteen orphans and even more smiles were among the crowds at the 16th Annual Pythian Home Party on Wednesday, April 25. Each year, our school invites orphans from the Pythian Home in Weatherford to school and classrooms volunteer to sponsor a child and spend time with them.

“The goal of the party is to make kids feel loved and let them know we are here for them,” junior Bryan Diaz said.

The students and guests played games together and showed each other a good time. Each group collaborated and came up with activities for teams to participate in.

“It was a really good experience to make an individual feel so loved,” Diaz said.

The initiative was started in 2001 by STUCO and Mrs. Fox.

“I have no doubt in my mind that this tradition will go on forever,” Mrs. Fox said. “Our STUCO sponsors have a huge heart for this school and our kids.”

Mr. Beard agreed.

“It really was an amazing night. I am so proud of our students for their generosity and thoughtfulness,” Mr. Beard said.
