Earning the Outstanding Orchestra Award was music to the Orchestra program’s ears when they competed at the San Antonio Heritage Festival on April 6-7. Judges also awarded the program with Gold.

“We practiced for six to seven months,” senior Alyssa Bouillon said. “We breathed this musical.”

The judges were university professors and judges from UTSA, UT El Paso, and Southeast Missouri State. They even asked where Grand Prairie was because they were so impressed with the talent they saw.

“It was nerve racking but it was inspiring for us to get on a new level. We had never competed in something like this so it was helpful to receive great feedback that will only help us get better,” Bouillon said.

Orchestra’s last concert is May 18th at 6:30 p.m. The concert will also serve as a senior tribute.

“We got really close this year and had a lot of fun,” Bouillon said. “We grew as musicians and as a family.”
