The concept of having a school uniform has been a very debated topic that takes on a wide view on the in betweens of a black and white spectrum. Whether students find it unnecessary and repugnant or just dislike the color scheme of the dress wear, it’s a topic that has no end as well as no common ground. Uniforms are great and those who think otherwise are unlettered and may be ignorant. School uniforms are a great way to enforce discipline, maintain an equal environment among peers, and most importantly a great way of showing the social status of your scholar education.
“I kinda think uniforms are a drag, but honestly they show like a lot of prestige and professionalism,” senior Victor Chavez said .
Not only do they show professionalism, but uniforms also form a socially equal environment and eliminate the stress of having social insecurity because every student is equally dressed. Statistics show a more positive effect on both the students and the school, although some students decide to rebel. Those numbers seem to drop as the schools enforce the uniform year after year. Student awareness will most undoubtedly increase with uniforms, knowingly their appropriate dress wear and a way to create a safe environment for the students.
“To me uniforms are pretty awesome, they just make me feel like I know what I’m doing, and just make me feel safe just knowing we all have the same standards,” senior Joey Rivera said.
Uniforms also exterminate the competition between the students of high end and those who have less luxurious lives. The competition between the students that wear brand name clothing between those who wear simple, very regular clothing. Without uniforms in place, those who wear normal clothes will be left out and undoubtedly will be looked at differently by other classmates. When uniforms are in place, they help the students focus as a whole, not focusing on the extravagant things but knowing they’re all alike and focus on their one goal, education.
“I don’t like coming to school cause there’s always those kids that just show off all their cool clothes, and I can’t have the same. It’s a degrading feeling,” junior Caesar Escobar said.
Uniforms not only let the students feel more welcomed into the school, but they help change the attitude of students. Students will be intrigued by the idea of a early start in a professional environment, not only allowing a more subtle change in the positivity of leaning, but making them feel as if their genuineness is something highly appreciated in the environment of their professional behavior.
“Dude I feel like a whole wall street guy in LA, or like some dude for the Men's Wearhouse commercial,” sophomore Tyler Bennett said.
All of these points bringing me to one, uncannily explicit conclusion, uniforms are the peak of a professional attitude, which means, uniforms are not only improving the social academic environment, but are also necessary for the equality of the social statuses of the school attendees.
“I feel if we had them here in school, we’d feel like a high class society, with like the luxury sweaters and the collared shirts,” senior Frank Iniesta said.
