Not only a perspective nor food for thought, equity is a general cognizance of fairness, morality, and nobility. A common misconception is the difference between equity and equality. The two contradict one another quite a bit. Equality typifies that every individual is at the same level, whereas equity takes into consideration the differences and evokes whatever individual need to each’s own. Both of them, however, work as strategies of the progression towards stability and a sense of justice.

“To each his own, but when it comes to equality or everyone being able to stand in the same pedestal, we can’t there’s no such thing as the same support,“ junior Elvis Sonoroe said.

Equity is something society seems to crave, but it stands still and only wishes for it. The basic concept of life is alchemy. Alchemy is the philosophical view of life itself, such as actions and consequences. If you’re a creator, you have the same power to destroy, and life is the constant reminder of such power and such potential for which we seek comfort in society.

“We strive for something that the world has, but we blindly push those advantages we have so far away from one another,” senior Taylor Nova said.

We are malicious by nature, whether we’re black or white. We crave success and we all would sacrifice our lives to reach it. We tend to document these malicious acts, yet these things don’t change. It’s as though we haven’t gained anything from our history class. It seems only as a viewing plaza for our own entertainment and those who take action tend to be seen with shame-filled eyes. To know your own advantage, you need to know the definition of fairness.

“It’s basic fairness, know your advantage and where you truly stand against others,” freshmen Natalia Mina said.

"Thus the difference between equality and equity comes unto the light and the sight."
